Carline
Drop Off and Pick Up

Carline gates open at 7:30am and close at 7:55am

Due to safety concerns related to the drop off and pick up traffic, all students are dropped off to and picked up from the gymnasium building.
Please DO NOT make a U-turn in the north bound turn lane in front of the school. Please go up to Clubhouse Rd instead. This will keep everyone safe and prevent traffic backups along 98. Also, do not make a U-turn at the 540A light to go back north. Instead, turn right and take an alternate route or use the U-turn lane one block down in front of Spessard Holland.
Frequently Asked Questions

At drop off, students will be greeted at the car by a staff member. Students will be required to exit the passenger side of the car.
Once the gate closes, the teachers will lead their students to their classroom campus.

It is normal for younger students to experience some anxiety the first time the arrive at a new school. Generally, the child who enters the class crying is able to regulate his or herself and enjoy the classroom activities after a brief adjustment. If your child is extremely upset for more than the first hour of school, we will check in with you and let you know.
Teachers will sit with your child and help him or her regain calm. They may pat their backs and talk to them softly or try to engage them in some fun activities. If you send in a picture of your family, we will laminate it and will show it to your child with reassurance that you will return at the end of the day.
If your child has separation anxiety at the carline drop off, you have two choices.
Reassure your child that you will be back at the end of the day and that you know he or she will have a great day and will make lots of friends. Let the staff member who assists your child in getting to his or her teacher gently talk to your child on the way to his or her new friends. This is our recommended method because it communicates calm and confidence to your child. If you are calm, your child will more quickly be calm.
If your child is absolutely too upset to get out of the car, you may pull up to the grassy front parking area and wait until the carline has ended at 7:55am for a staff member to call you to walk your child to the front gate. The staff member will then walk your child to his or her classroom.

Remember that you chose our school because we aim to model grace and courtesy. Cutting into line and not following the rules makes an unsafe environment for your children. Please follow the carline rules so we can focus on keeping children safe.
Please arrive on time for pick up. The gate opens at 2:40 promptly. We do not allow families to make a line outside of the school onto 98S, so please do not arrive very early and wait. We also do not allow check out from the gate or from the office between 2pm and 3pm. If you park and attempt to check your child out from the gate without a prior arrangement with administration, you will be asked to wait until carline is over. It will be difficult to reenter the carline safely until 3pm when cars slow down. After 3pm, the gates will be closed and you will be required to park and walk to the gate to pick up your child tardy.
Please have your car tag clearly hanging on your window. A staff member will communicate when your car enters the campus and your children will be lined up as a group for pickup.

Instead of asking for a long list of supplies, Mi Escuela Montessori requests that families pay a supply fee for their students. The supply donation is $100 for each student.
The supply fees will be used to purchase a student planner, standard take home reading bag, and all school supplies needed including binders, notebooks, pencils, pens, paper, hand sanitizer, practical life and craft materials, and more. After the initial basic school supplies have been paid for, the balance will be given to teachers to purchase materials for projects or special thematic study topics.
Parents are responsible for providing the following for their children:
A clear, plastic labeled personal water bottle with your child’s name on it, taken home to be washed daily. Please make sure to send only a plastic water bottle. Glass and metal are not permitted.
Optional- A small lunch box that can fit inside a 28cmx16cm cubby (Please do not send larger lunch boxes and/or lunch boxes your child can not independently carry.)
PRESCHOOL: a napping towel, complete change of clothes with name on it.

We purchase supplies for all of the children. We request that you pay the supply donation (or as close to it as you are able) for each child you have enrolled in the school.
