Celebrating Leadership: Assistant Principal Appreciation Week

This week, we are proud to honor Dr. Daphne Harris for her third year of incredible service to our school community.

The role of an Assistant Principal is one of the most challenging in education. It requires a unique balance of discipline, empathy, and academic expertise. From the early morning bells to the final bus departure, Dr. Harris serves as the constant anchor for our campus, ensuring our operations run smoothly and our environment remains secure.

A Pillar of Support & Safety

Many don’t see the complexity of the AP role. Dr. Harris isn't just an administrator; she is a mentor and a protector.

• Student Advocacy: She supports students through their toughest moments, helping them self-regulate and reflect when their behavior is out of bounds.

• Safety Leadership: As the Chairperson for our Threat Assessment Team, she carries the immense responsibility of evaluating and managing safety concerns to ensure our hallways remain a secure place for learning.

• Operational Excellence: From managing the intricacies of testing coordination to ensuring the code of conduct is followed fairly, she handles the "heavy lifting" with grace.

An Expert Instructional Coach

Beyond her administrative duties, Dr. Harris is a powerhouse when working with students. Drawing on decades of experience as a talented reading coach, she has transformed how we approach literacy:

• Data-Driven Growth: She helps teachers navigate complex data to target student needs and improve reading outcomes.

• MTSS Management: She leads our ELA Multi-Tiered System of Supports, ensuring every student gets the specific intervention they need.

• Teacher Mentorship: Her coaching empowers our faculty to grow, bringing a clear vision and consistent support to our professional community.
