Lakeland dual-language school makes bilingual education more accessible

We are excited to share that Mi Escuela Montessori was recently featured on ABC Action News! The article highlights our journey since opening just three years ago and celebrates the success of our bilingual Montessori program, which now serves 200 students in Lakeland.

Our founder and executive director, Kelly De La Cruz, shared the vision behind the school: to provide students with the cognitive and cultural benefits of a dual-language education in English and Spanish. As she said in the interview, “The benefits of being bilingual are more than just being able to talk to other people. It builds more flexible brains [and] better problem solving.”

Families in our community are seeing the impact. From connecting children to their heritage to offering them a deeper cultural experience, parents are embracing the advantages of a bilingual Montessori education.

We are proud of our incredible students, staff, and families for helping us build a school community that values language, culture, and connection. Thank you to ABC Action News for sharing our story and helping us spread the word about the power of bilingual education!

Thank you, ABC News, for your coverage of our program!
